And we are nearly there: we now use 99% natural materials in our collections. Furthermore, we are proud to tell you that we have recently collaborated with a yarn supplier to develop a yarn that brings us even closer to 100%.

For many years, some of our favourite winter knitwear styles have been made from bouclé yarn. Garments made from boucle yarn are very light, warm, and feature a playful, wintery texture. Our alpaca bouclé is a type of yarn where loose alpaca fibres interlace with a fine base thread, which locks them into a stable yarn. To achieve the textured effect, the base thread must be very fine and strong; unfortunately, the typical choice for this is a synthetic thread. For years, the composition of our boucle yarn included 9% nylon, but we have now changed that.

We found a solution in the only natural filament thread that is both fine and strong: silk. With this idea to replace nylon with silk we approached our long-standing alpaca yarn spinner Mitchell, who took on the challenge to create a yarn specially for us. After some trial and error they came up with three versions of alpaca silk brushed bouclé yarns, and our designers chose one to use in our collections. Now we are proud to say that our new styles made from alpaca bouclé yarn are better for the planet and synthetic free.
